The Impact Of SA8000 Standard On Corporate Competitiveness Of China

With the rapid growth both in economy and foreign trade of China, it is taking tremendous development and changes in social lives and the relationship with trade partner. Both the public and the corporate paid more attention on corporate social responsibility and the related knowledge further on. Meanwhile, the frictions with trade partner brought in factors hinder the harmony of trade environment and process. In this situation, SA8000 standard is taking more and more concern. Based on the background above, this thesis analysis the impact of SA8000 standard to the competitiveness of China's corporation, probe the adaptability of SA8000 in China, try to inspire China's corporation in someway.On the basis of reviewing and sorting out the related research, this thesis analysis the implement situation of SA8000 standard in China, the attitude of China's corporation to SA8000, and the possible factors which affect the corporate to carry on SA8000. After that, the thesis makes a comparison between SA8000 standard and the current legal provision, clarifies the definition of trading harmony. It tries to prove that SA8000 is applicable in China's corporation by analyzing the imputing force from SA8000 to actualize trading harmony. After illustrate the obstacles faced by China's corporation to implement SA8000, the thesis focus on the impact of SA8000 to the competitiveness of China's corporation. Corporate competitiveness can be classified into the following layers: the outer layer is customer and market, the medium layer is resource, and the inner layer is corporate culture. SA8000 standard provides unique competitive for corporations in all these layers, lays solid foundation for corporations to develop sustainable. The products exported by China's corporation are mainly labor-intensive products; however, competitive merely based on low labor costs is unsustainable. SA8000 standard promote brand-new competitiveness for China's corporation through updating the technology of the products, enhancing the notability and diversity. This thesis takes North China Pharmaceutical Co Ltd as a case to study, analysis the motive, process and the result about implementing the SA8000 standard, and illustrates the positive affects of SA8000 to corporations. Finally, this thesis puts countermeasures and proposes for China's corporation to cope with SA8000 standard.
