The environment question's day-by-day aggravating let the people start to realize"the environmental protection"already to become one of this time subjects. The design activity as the basic activity to plan and create the human habitat, plays an important role between person– society– environment, three essential factors of world constitution. How to balance the design activity with relations between the human pursue of better living condition and the environment protection, is a contemporary designer's important topic. Household electric appliances' design is not exceptional. By the harm of worn household electric appliances as well as the rising of eco-design for the starting point, This research seeks the solution of existing unreasonable household electric appliance design's environmental harm form the ecology design's angle. The goal of household electric appliance eco-design is the guarantee of harmless or the harm is minimum to the environment in the entire product life cycle process of household electric appliances. It also means that each link of product from raw material choice to the production, use and even abandon, recycling, processing is harmless or the harm is very small to the environment. It means that the production enterprise of household electric appliance should select the environment performance friendly raw material in the production process and the clean technological process, produce the clean household electric appliance; The user when uses the household electric appliance produces very little environmental pollution, causing no harm to the user; The reduction of waste as far as possible in the recovery processing process of worn household appliances.This research mainly studies the analysis the theory and method of household electric appliance eco-design from designer's angle. In order to have a concrete understanding to household electric appliances eco-design, we firstly carry on the discussion and analysis to the eco-design's theory as well as the present application situation, providing the theory support to household electric appliances eco-design integrated with some other product eco-design's application examples. Then we carry on the concrete design analysis to the household electric appliance's present situation, carry on the summary mainly from three aspects: household electric appliances' development, the use environment and expense trend. Based on the above, this research carries on the induction analysis to the household electric appliance eco-design theory and method from three different angles:"design for saving","design for increasing the use factor"and"design integrated with the living life". It provides the support to specifically household electric appliance eco-design.
