| As a new business mechanism, online auction takes more and more proportion in the business. However, as a result of the absence of relevant authentication and critical criterion, it's difficult to find and bound shill bidding. Simultaneity, because of the auction's flourish development, it's very important in both theory and praxis to research and look for the method to prevention and cure the shill bidding.Firstly, this thesis introduces research of shill bidding both at home and abroad and concludes the basal theory of online auction, online auction fraud and its prevention and cure. Simultaneity it also concludes and analyses the reason and mode of shill bidding.Based on the analysis above, according to the fee that the sellers have to pay and the value of the thing which is auctioned for the seller, this thesis improve the definition of the seller's expected profit. The expected profit of the seller when the seller is shill and when he isn't, in English auction and the first price sealed auction were computed and proved: the counteracting shill bidding strategy is effective。This thesis mainly discusses how the bidder's common belief influence the seller's expected profit. The two forms of auction were compared, analyzed and get these conclusions: The expected profit of the bidder increase with the increase of the bidder's common belief in the English auction, however descend in the first price sealed auction. So the counteracting shill bidding strategy in the English auction is more power than in the first price sealed auction. At common instance, the seller's expected profit increase with the increase of the bidders common belief in the English auction however descend in the first price sealed auction. In English auction, the credit mechanism of web doesn't work in restrict the sellers to participate in shill bidding. And this is one reason that shill bidding is more rampancy in English auction.The main conclusions and some questions for further research are proposed at last. |
