Research On Agricultural Industrialization

Agricultural industrialization is a brand-new thought of agricultural development as the outcome of primitive agriculture and traditional agriculture. In modern Economy Dictionaries, it is defined as "the general term referring to agricultural regional distribution, special production, integrated operation, social service and enterprise-style management." The theoretical research and practice of agricultural industrialization originated in America and other western countries in 1950s. Since 1960s agricultural industrialization has made development in China and achieved non-systemeticall experiences, lacking of integral theoretical system to direct and further the development on a national scale. The uneven development among different provinces and areas makes it difficult to form the mode of agricultural industrialization with region characteristics.Against the whole background, the author reflected on the development of agricultural industrialization in China and carried out an empirical research on the development situation and existing problems in Weihai, a city located on the eastern tip of Shandong Province. Based on wide data collection of local agricultural industrialization, I took the local Homey Group as an example, introduced its successful development and management pattern, explored how the mode of "thriving enterprise joining up villages" and "agricultural leading enterprise joining hands with industry bases" helped villages develop and villages get rich. By visiting some towns, villages and agricultural enterprises and talking with peasants and specialists, I collected sufficient first hand materials. A study on these materials showed that the past decade had witnessed the development of agricultural industry economy to local conditions with region characteristics in Weihai, preliminarily forming some industrial leading enterprises-catering development regions such as Homey Group. However, there still exist such problems as agricultural industry structure, agrarian lands, peasants' consciousness and quality restricting further integration and optimized development of agricultural industry in Weihai. It indicated that the development of agricultural industry in Weihai was still at the preliminary stage far from the complete scientific development system. The empirical research in this paper comes to the conclusion that agricultural industrialization is necessary for agricultural economy development. With the development of new economy and society, the traditional agricultural mode of production and management based mainly on peasant economy is supposed on transition to agricultural industry mode. The development of agricultural industrialization should be conducted progressively to local conditions, enriched and perfected with the combination and interaction of theory and practice. The development of agricultural industry in Weihai should adhere to market orientation, pay attention to the government's macroeconomic control and correct guidance, stick to the principles of "Government promoting, Leading enterprises pulling, Good examples encouraging, Profits calling", deal with the existing problems, form joint power to promote the development of agricultural industrialization. This will have some reference value to agricultural industrialization development in others parts of China.
