A Study On American Producer-Service FDI

Since the late 20^th century, Producer Services, which aimed to accomplish optimum allocation of global resources, have become one of the most important economic activities around the world. The Service Industries, especially Producer Services have become the major sectors of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in its internationalization. America is a big country of FDI, as well as the best developed country in its Service Industries' FDI. From the end of 1970s, America's Services, especially its Producer Services have been occupying a major position of all the country's FDI abroad, such as financial,insurance,real estate,professional services, etc.This article mainly studies the specific situation of America's Producer-Service FDI, including the growth of its investment amount,industries distribution and regional distribution,and the cause analysis in the latest 30 years. And also it empirically verifies the effects and the relationship between America's Producer-Service FDI and American economy and its international trade. According to the verification, those have been found that America's Producer-Service FDI plays a promoting role in various aspects of American economy, such as a positive effect on its domestic consumption, and that there is a very close relationship between America's Producer-Service FDI and the optimization and upgrading of American industrial structure. Further, America's Producer-Service FDI shows a Trade Creation Effect to American international trade, that it promotes the increases of the host countries' export or their imports; and it impacts the change in space through America's investments in host countries.America is a major country of the foreign investment in China. According to the study above, this article analyses the development of America's Producer Services investment in China, and its positive and negative effects on China's economy, and finally gives some policy recommendations to China's investment attraction and industrial development, and so on.
