There is a large number of salt resources in the north of Shandong Province because of it's unique geological structure and surface structure, which has always been an important areas of salt production from a long time ago. To comprehensively and systematically analyze archaeological achievement of salt production in the north of Shandong Province and combine with the relative historical documents, the salt economic geography before Qin Dynasty has been attmaply analyzed by the research methods of historical geography.The whole paper is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter comprises a review of salt production research in our country and others basic questions, such as range and areas of research, study ways. Analyzed the archaeological results of salt production in the north of Shandong province, then the second chapter researches distribution of salt production and tools before Qin Dynasty in the north of Shandong province. The third chapter not only includes geography backgrounds of salt production in the north of Shandong province, but also involves regional characters of salt production. The last chapter consist of the interactive relationship between people and nature about salt production before Qin Dynasty in north of Shandong Province.
