Study On The Index System Of Sustainable Development Of Coastal Ecotourism

Under spotlight of the present environment protection issue, coastal ecotourism is considered to be the outcome of high evolution of the economy, whose index system of sustainable development still suffers from further investigation and scrutiny. Moreover, its relevant researches and corresponding practices are far from enough throughout the country or abroad. So devising the index system of sustainable development of coastal ecotourism is of great significance in that it can norm the construction of ecotourism zone, promote the sustainable utilization of coastal ecotourism resources and guide the healthy development of economy and society in littoral zone.Based upon a systematic review of the latest achievements in the research on ecotourism, coastal ecotourism and index systems of sustainable development, the thesis brings forward a set of index system of sustainable development of coastal ecotourism based on the "Environment-Economy-Sociey-Management" frame model that is founded on the interview with specialists and officers from the Tourism Bureau of Dalian. After a consultation with experts, the author uses Delphi as tool to identify effective indexes and thus develops the index system of sustainable development of coastal ecotourism, which is divided into four layers: environment, economy, society and management. And each of these layers contains several sub-layers. Environment contains four index layers: resources quality, environmental exponential of ecotourism, constructive exponential of environment and social environment. Economy contains two index layers: economic exponential of society and economic exponential of ecotourism. Society contains three index layers: diathesis of population, quality of life and stabilization of society. Management contains five index layers: policy sustainment, environmental conservation investment, use of resource, behavior regulation and staff training. In the process of working out the weight of each of these forty-eight indexes. Analytic Hierarchy Process is applied as the main methodology.With reference to China national standards, advice contributed by experts and integration of data from related documents, the author applies standardization process to the index system. establish the evaluating standard of sustainable development of coastal ecotourism and construct the evaluating mode of sustainable development of coastal ecotourism with adopting multiple objectives analysis of linear weighting function method.Finally, according to the above evaluating standard, a specific case study has been carried out in the coastal zone in Dalian under this system and tries to figure out applicable strategy that is constructive to its basal sustainable development.
