Research On Protection And Development Strategies Of The Tourism Resources Of Ancient Town In Yibin City

Since the reform and opening policy were carried out in China, Chinese tourism has made great achievement recently with the rapid economic development. China now is a big tourism country and will become a significant tourist destination in 21 century. Among various tourism forms, the resources of ancient towns play a dominate role in the sightseeing-type tourism products. Ancient towns in different dynasties increasingly attract a lot of tourists at home and abroad. Visiting them becomes more and more popular across the whole country. We have heard about the Ten Water Towns in the south part of China, Pingyao ancient town in Shanxi province, Lijiang ancient town in Yunnan province, Huanglong and Shangli ancient town in Sichuan province etc. Tour to ancient town has developed into the leading industry in the local areas and pushed the service industry forwards.On the basis of other scholar' research findings and compared Yibin City with other regions in the East or West on protection of ancient towns' tourist resources, it can be concluded that as its regional economy grow rapidly, protection of ancient towns is obviously urgent. In the meanwhile, there is a great potential in tourism market in Yibin ancient towns. The protection and exploration of ancient towns has strategic significance to the social and economic development of Yibin city. It will greatly enrich Yibin's inner connotation as a famous historical and cultural city, optimize the industrial structure, and promote the coordinate economy development between rural and urban areas. Therefore, the protection of ancient towns should be placed in a more important position in Yibin City. The author has carefully concluded the successful experience and problems on protection and development of the ancient towns, pointing out that the protection and development of ancient towns in Yibin has just taken off. Only Lizhuang ancient town has been successfully explored and well kept. Compared with other provinces or even the neighboring cities, the scale of tourism protection and industry as well as the exploration on tourism product and wealth of historical figures and cultural heritages in Yibin is far from satisfactory. As a famous historical and cultural city in China, Yibin has a long history with abundant cultural heritages. Since the recognition on the tourism resources is limited, some wealthy ancient towns have not been protected and explored, such as Nanxi ancient town, Jiangan ancient town , Longhua ancient town, Yanyang ancient town and Yuexi ancient town etc, all of which are tresures left by the history to Yibin people. We should seize the opportunity and formulate the unified plan, to protect the historical and cultural heritages, to combine the protection of ancient towns with the tourism industry, to perfect the tour routes and network to the ancient towns and to promote in forming the framework of Yibin tourism so that this city will be newly enlightened.Furthermore, the author puts forward the overall plan and operational priciples on protecting and exploring the tourism resources of ancient towns in Yibin, illustrates the specific protection objects, scope, demand and measures, initially designs the tour network and routes of ancient towns and gives some useful suggestions on management, investment, advertisement and promotion so as to provide beneficial reference for development plan on tourism industry and government decision-makings.
