Cost control of construction project, which is regarded by the construction enterprise manager, is the key factor to decide whether the project successful or not. For a long term, in China, cost management of construction projects was concentrated on the cost budget and static control. With the extension of modern project management theory and the accumulation of practice experience on construction projects, it is gradually recognized that the traditional cost management theory is not all-sided, and in place of it is the systemic, all-sided and dynamic cost management method and idea.The management goal of construction enterprise is the maximal benefit, when meeting the demand on construction product. Enhancing cost control of construction project is the important method to ensure the realization of economical benefit and promote the management level and social credit. Cost control system is crucial for market competition ability of construction enterprises. Therefore, Cost control of construction project has become the main symbol and necessary part of management system of construction enterprises. It is meaningful to research on construction project cost control for perfecting investment system reform and promoting market competition ability of construction enterprises.In this dissertation, the history of construction project cost management and research actuality domestic and oversea has been reviewed, and subsequently the difference between the cost management research domestic and oversea. At the same time, the content, principle and application of cost management theory is introduced, and the meaning and method of cost control are emphasized. Based on many construction cases, the common reasons of cost overrun are analyzed. And the application of schedule control, deviation analysis and earned value in construction project are discussed. In the end, the Second Student Mess Hall of Chongqing University of Science and Technology is regarded as the example to show the application of S-curve and cost performance analysis to control construction project cost. In this dissertation, the qualitative and quantitative method, and academic and practice method are combined to research cost control of construction projects. And the application of cost control method, such as schedule method, network analysis and cost deviation analysis, is roundly discussed to provide the practical guidance for construction enterprises.
