The economic society which is consumption-oriented needs employees who own variety abilities. As costume designer, only excellent design ability can not satisfy companies'needs. The designer should know about the costume market and consumers so as to design and develop the new costume products which not only meet consumers'needs but also are satisfied by consumers, which is real consumption-oriented. Based on training the market making of the costume designers and raising their market sensitivity, this study mainly researches the market survey in the costume new product development, which includes three domain-product survey, consumer survey, brand style survey- dissertate the survey methods on how to organize them. In product survey, designers should know about the fashion trend of costume market; deeply explore the creative points of new product; in this competitive costume market, the data of competitive brands is so important to designers. In consumer survey, knowing the costume needs of consumers is the first important; if designers can know the factors which can influence the purchase activities when consumers are purchasing costume goods, the successful possibility of new products coming into the market will be much more high; the feedback information of consumers can help not only improve the advantages of new products, but also evade the risks which new products are undesirable. In brand style survey, advance the advice of building the costume style database in order that can help designer establish the brand style, pick up design element, and inspire art feeling; designers should survey from four aspects which are the society background of brand, brand culture, art feeling, designer background so as to build unique costume brand with special style; at last advance the desirability that national costume brands should attach importance to brand style.
