With the development of economics and the improvement of the level productive forces, project logistics becomes more and more important and it takes our attention gradually. It even becomes one of the tokens that stand for the overall strength of the country. Asked by the development of logistics economy, modern ports are net only the hubs of sea-land transportation, but also the transportation assembly center of international goods storage and distribution. They are also the congregating places of the development to trade and manufacture. Therefore, Ports have become the more and more important parts in international goods transportation chains and project logistics. Because of complexity and levity of engineering logistics ,the reasonable choice of project logistics center has very important significance on raising support of project logistics and lowering logistics cost. In a sense , the location of transportation assembly center in project logistics has a strategic position in the plan and design of transportation assembly center. And it greatly influences the operation of the transportation assembly center. For the sake of making its maximal benefit in modern business, what we want to deal with is how to locate the transportation assembly center in project logistics. This paper introduces the characteristics and definition of project logistics and transportation assembly center and discusses some typical principle and methods of locating transportation assembly center in detail. It brings forward the optimal methods of locating transportation assembly center in project logistics by using Analytic Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Appraisal. Transportation assembly centers' site selection, involving numerous elements, is crucial to project logistics planning. Traditional algorithm neglects some important qualitative considerations. This paper proposes a new site selection method, where the data derived from a fuzzy appraisal matrix is processed. The new method can make the site selection in an objective manner and avoid the bias brought up by traditional algorithm. Practical examples are cited in the paper to illustrate the process.
