Enterprise innovation is a complicated and multi-phases process with many factors interact each other. As market competition becomes fiercer, it adds complexity and uncertainty the innovation process. Enterprise can hardly depend on it's own to get everything they need for R&D inside the firm. It's hard to internalize the complete value chain during innovation. As a result, cooperation-innovation becomes an important form of its kinds. Recently, many economists and sociologists, at home and broad, have pay great interests in the theories of enterprise cooperation innovation, which includes exchange cost based, game theory based and social network based.The motive is the base of successful enterprise innovation cooperation. It's influenced and constrained by many factors, including market, technological or resource. Cooperation innovation network is a form of cooperation innovation. It will shift the motive to cooperate directly or indirectly. This article combines them together. Apply three stage R&D game to further the study of the motive of enterprise cooperation innovation in homogeneous-product market through consideration of R&D expense, total cost and proceeds. It includes the follows:1. Systematically analyzed market and network environment, proposed network stability as a substitute to enterprise proceeds and social welfare to network's proceeds. All these define the realm of the study.2. Analyzed the motive of innovation cooperation of enterprises in or out of the network based on R&D expense. When the enterprise weighs the decision of entering the network, it concludes that the original characteristics of network has an impact on the enterprise's motive only while it increases the scale of network and keep degree intact. In other scenarios, enterprise and network are willing to cooperate in order to share resources and risk, in other words, to reduce the expense.3. Analyzed the motive of innovation cooperation of enterprises in or out of the network based on total cost. It concludes that the periphery enterprise has a motive to enter the network.
