Originally only regarded as technology category, Standardization has been gradually developing into an important reference for policy-making and theoretical research on economic growth sine 1970s. Researches into its influence on enterprises, industry and macro economic development have never been so flourishing in recent years. However, the research on the influence of standardization on industry development, which is of great significance, is really rare. On the other hand, as one of an important pillar industry, auto industry is also closely connected with standardization. This thesis ventured into the influence of standardization on auto industry and then, empirical studies is made on auto industry in China. Started with some related theories of standards and standardization and the identification of measure-methods for industry development, this thesis analyzed the influence of standardization on technique progresses, the increase of economic scale and optimization of structure in auto industry, assuming that standardization have positive effect on development of auto industry. Then, the empirical study on influence of standardization on auto industry in China has proved the assumption. The study shows that the international standards play an obvious role in promoting the development of auto industry in China, while the domestic standards do not work. Therefore, the Chinese government should deepen the internationalization of standardization in auto industry so as to integrated with the global market and promote the healthy and sustainable development of auto industry in China.
