Research On The Evaluation Index System Of Urban Competitiveness

The"Global Competitiveness Report",published by the World Economic Forum and the Lausanne Institute of Management,attracted a wide range attention of governments around all the world,a lot of countries and institutions have given their effort to the study of international competitiveness.With the research of the competitiveness being more and more deeply and the continuous advancement of the process of globalization of science technique and economic,the trend of the internalization of international competition and internationalization of domestic competition are been gradually strengthened,the competition between countries gradually shifts to the competition between the cities and regions.The marketability of Chinese economy promotes the economic growth of cities in China and the internationalization makes the level of urban competitiveness to be the key fact which determining whether China will be in invincible position in the international competition.Therefore,researches have being paid on urban competitiveness in recent years,subjects such as economics,management are involved.This issue is regarded as a valuable work in theory.Nine cities in Fujian Province are functioned as the growth poles,which aims to help the faster development of provincial economy and society.Thus,how are the competitiveness the cities have? What is the structure of levels? How about the advantages and disadvantages of the cities.All these problems should be considered in the process of drawing up the formulate development strategies of city.So the study on urban competitiveness has the significant meaning in practice. Based on the analysis on the research background and significance of urban competition,then re-recognizes the concept and intension of the urban competitiveness.On the basis of reviewing the existing theories and index models, the paper summaries the rudimentary theory of urban competitiveness.Then,this paper establishes a new urban competitiveness index system of estimation combining qualitative and quantitative analysis methods and formative and positive analysis methods.The paper carries on PCA method to the selected data of index system through the SPSS software and it reaches the city's competitiveness score and ranking,then carries on the comparative analysis to the cities of Fujian province from six aspects including general economic strength,infrastructure and service facilities,the degree of opening up,conditions of the urban environment,human resources and citizen diathesis,the level of government management.Afterwards by using the result of principal components analysis,the paper has carried on the cluster analysis to level target score and the competitiveness score of various cities,through the cluster analysis we divide the 9 cities of Fujian into four kinds in each level target and the quality synthetic evaluation score.Based on the competitiveness score point F,the 9 cities of Fujian Province will be divided into competitivebess strong city: Xiamen,competitiveness comparative strong city:Fuzhou,Quanzhou, competitiveness general city:Zhangzhou,competitiveness weak city:Longyan, Putian,Sanming,Nanping,Ningde.Finally,at the basis of the synthetic evaluation, combining the advantage and disadvantage analysis of urban development of Fujian, paper propose the strategy how to promote the competitiveness of Fujian cities:First of all,in the point of mutual cooperation,we discusses the strategies about how to improve the overall competitiveness of the system of cities of Fujian,then by combining with the local advantages,paper Puts forward the strategies,of which should be taken in the development of cities,to enhance its competitiveness.
