With the development of computer and networks technologies, the speed of knowledge updating becomes more faster. As a method which can improve companies'level of KM, Communities of Practice (CoPs) can manage explicit and tacit knowledge effectively. It initially understood as self-emerging and self-organizing organic networks in which everyone can participate. CoPs go beyond individual learning. It facilitates knowledge-sharing between individuals.Firstly, this paper introduces some theories about CoPs, such as characteristics of CoPs, seven principles of how to cultivate CoPs, different stages of CoPs and how to measure CoPs'value. Secondly, a study case is described according to the result of interviews and questionnaire survey. Finally, a comprehensive applied plan of CoPs will be presented to solve problems in the study case.
