Research On Improvement Of New Product Development Process Of WP Company

The marketing requirement is the real impetus of new product development, marketing and customer are the only standard which test a new product development is qualified or not. An enterprise could meet customer's increasing expectations and demands consistently only by researching and improving new product developing procedure continually.The main problem in WP company current new product developing procedure is that the developing procedure is more complicated and the related organization structure of Releasing Team is not reasonable. Hence it leads to longer duration and higher cost of new product development.The purpose of the article is to reduce the developing duration and cost and enhance the company's core competition by analyzing and improving current new product developing procedure. Firstly, describing the current new product developing procedure; and then analyzing and improving this procedure by the example of Jet model M product. Analyzing time-costing of all activities and finding the non-value-added activities during this procedure by using ASME; calculating the real cost of procedure by using activity based costing; analyzing and figuring out the main reasons causing problems by using the cause and effect diagram.It gives some corresponding improving suggestions for the problems of the procedure and also set up a new procedure. A large quantity of the non-value-added activities and cost will be reduced in the new product developing procedure which has been reevaluated by using the ASME and activity based costing. Hence, the procedure improvement reached the target of reducing the developing duration and cost.
