Applied Research On Sustainable Economy In TEDA

After the concept of Sustainable Development was made a common understanding in 1992 in the world,a development mode for sustainable economy was given to birth.It aims to construct a closed economic system of Resource-Product-Waste-Resource to meet the demands of a new economic development style,including optimization of economic structure,reasonable utilization of resources,protection of ecological environment and promotion of sustainable development.It is expected to be a new trend in 21st century.However,it is apparently known that the nature of sustainable economy is "economy" rather than "sustainability",which implies if a sustainable theory is unworkable in the field of economy,it shall not be contained into the new phrase.As a basic principle of sustainable economy,3R differs in countries and areas,especially in economic development stages.Thus,it is suggested that sustainable economy be developed considering specific characteristics of an area.This paper discussed on the applied research on sustainable economy in Tianjin Economic-technological Development Area(TEDA),aiming to explore a new way of sustainable development,including enhancing input and output profit,constructing higher level industrial structure and improving ecological environment.Based on above mentioned thoughts and theories,in-field studies have been carried out and various materials searched or analyzed referring to specific circumstances of TEDA to study natural environmental characteristics and social and economic status in the area and deepen the understanding on the definition and true meaning of sustainable economy.With obtained results,such as successful experiences on development of sustainable economy in TEDA in recent years and analysis on disadvantageous factors for the economy,an overall roadmap and objective for sustainable economy development in TEDA is proposed,an index system established and a general development layout of TWO ZONES and FOUR CHAINS worked out,aiming to show the way for future sustainable development in TEDA.Through multi-angle discussion, detailed policies,including ensuring measures for sustainable development of TEDA was proposed,which will offer reference and basis for governmental decision making.This study is an application of the sustainable economy theory in TEDA.It is hoped that it would support and facilitate the sustainable development in Tianjin as well as provide profitable reference for other places.
