A Study On The Internal Operational Mechanism And Evolution Of Cluster Innovation Network

Since 1990s, the studies on innovation of industrial cluster gradually become the mainstream in industrial cluster research. As an important carrier of the development of industrial cluster, innovation network has become the focus of research. At the same time, theories from economics, management sciences, sociology, and geography provide different aspects to the study of cluster innovation network. Research angles varied from the traditional static efficiency advantages to the dynamic competitive advantages. From spatial dimensions, research topics then include macro-level view, including professional collaboration, economies of scale and scope of the traditional perspective, and the micro-level view of the members' action network, knowledge diffusion, collective learning, and cooperation, trust and dynamic evolution.In this paper, the author puts forward a framework of "structure-operational mechanism-development feature-evolution" from economic geography, enriching the weakness on study of the dynamics of cluster innovation network. Based on the literature home and abroad, the paper sums sup three types of operational mechanism of cluster innovation network, including the sharing of resources and capabilities that complement each other, collective learning and cooperation in trust. The three different operational mechanisms are also closely linked to each other, motivating each other altogether to promote the dynamic system. The evolution of network is rightly the external performance of the internal mechanism. In order to give a clear outline of network characteristics of the dynamic evolution, the paper selects four network indicators, including density, range, stability and learning ability of nodes that are closely related to the operational mechanism of cluster innovation network, to specifically describe the breeding stage, growth stage and maturity stage of industrial cluster. Finally, this paper explores the dynamic process of Zhangjiang IC industrial cluster and finds that Zhangjiang IC industrial cluster innovation network is in growth stage. Transnational corporations pay an important impact on the development of local innovation networks. What's more, comparing with developed IC industrial cluster, there is lack of horizontal cooperation, trust, learning ability of nodes, as well as the function of affiliate institutions. The problems detected will provide a track for policy-making and for the development of Zhangjiang IC industrial cluster.
