FDI is usually regarded as an important channel for developing countries to absorb latest and key technologies, whereas, the investment itself does not have the obligation of transferring advanced technology. On the other hand, its own advantage and strength may bring serious threat towards the enterprises in host countries. Thus it is still an open question on the existence of FDI international technology transfer for the technology promotion of host countries. The paper takes FDI international technology transfer as the study object. Based on the existed theories of FDI international technology transfer, it analyses the current status of the FDI technology transfer in China. According to it, the paper selects 25 industries in manufacturing domain as attracting the most FDI in China. By its panel data model of the industries in the years from 2003 to 2007, the paper discusses the existence of FDI international technology transfer in these industries. Further, it divides the industries in two different groups according to the influence factors as technology gap, technology intensification, R&D intensification, human capital, absorbing ability, enterprise scale disparity, proportion of number of foreign to domestic enterprise, and market intensification. Based on the results, the paper gives some policy suggestion on how to strengthen the effect of FDI international technology transfer.
