With the influx of foreign major commercial banks entering into China' s banking sector, China' s major commercial banks will soon face unprecedented competition and pressure. At the present, although the four state-owned commercial banks have completed a series of reform measure, including the bank of China, the China construction bank, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Bank of Communications going on the market in abundance, four big banks' reform on flaking bad reset, management system reform and so on. The private commercial banks also take an active part in the domestic market competition, by virtue of their excellent management, batter quality of human resources structure, and excellent service, and so occupied a certain amount of the domestic market. However, either state-owned commercial banks or private commercial banks, it is far from enough to launch a comprehensive competition with large foreign banks. Therefore, it has a great theoretical and practical significance to understand comprehensively of China's commercial banks and propose the countermeasures and suggestions to enhance the competitive edge.This paper starts with analying of the impact factors of commercial banks competitive edge, use of relevant theories of China' s commercial banks to establish a competitive edge evaluation index system, and adopt the Panel Date model to establish a model of commercial banks competitive evaluation. At last, adoption of the data of "Almanac of China s Finance and Banking", the paper makes an empirical analysis of the competitive edge of China' s commercial banks, shows the maily impact factors of the competitive edge of China' s commercial banks, and makes a comparative analysis of the reality of competitive edge, innovation capacity, management, operational mechanisms, human resources and management structure of nine commercial banks. On this basis, it puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for state-owned commercial banks and private commercial banks, in order to play a guiding role for China' s commercial banks development.It is one of the characteristics herein to combine with the theory analysis and empirical analysis. Full text has systematic theory analysis in most place, which concatenate by study frame of three competitive edge levels those are realism, potential, sustained; Meanwhile, the full text uses many kinds of analysis means, and strives to make the analysis more extensive and deeper, among the analysis, the greatest innovation lies in applying PANEL DATA model method to comparative study of competitive edge.
