Mechanism Research Of Intellectual Capital On High-Tech Company Performance

Entering the era of knowledge economy, gradually but fundamentally, competition mode of enterprises has changed from capital centered to knowledge and ability centered way. Meanwhile, the research of intellectual capital rises gradually, getting increasing attention both from academic and business circles, with the relationship between intellectual capital and company performance widely discussed. The intellectual capital theory provides a micro-perspective to the understanding of innovation, transfer, utilization and protection of knowledge in modern enterprises. Empirical survey of the mechanism between intellectual capital and company performance is fundamental to the value creation of intellectual capital and to the high- tech companies, intellectual capital is not only the key of their lasting competitive edge, but also the main reason that contributes to the future innovation and profit growth. This paper aims to explore the mechanism between intellectual capital and high-tech company performance and also the relationship between the component factors of intellectual capital.Through systematic reviewing of the research status, the connotation, properties, component factors of intellectual capital was analyzed; further more, a performance droved model was built from a dynamic perspective. By questionnaire survey and interviewing, the mechanism between intellectual capital and high-tech company performance was empirically analyzed.The annotation of intellectual capital was defined from strategic level: intellectual capital was a sort of dynamic knowledge or ability that is deployed out of company's strategic needs, owned by or controlled by the company, and is able to create values or comprise competitive edges for the company; Manifested as a strategic resource that characterized by intellectual capital chain improving or lifting; Constituted by human capital, organization capital and relation capital in a dynamic way and assisted by proper capital management. Its essence lies in the knowledge or ability that a company possess or controls and is focused in the value creation.Furthermore, on the basis of theoretical analysis, taking value chain management as reference, an intellectual capital performance driven model from a dynamic perspective was constructed, underlining the transformation and interaction of intellectual capital component. In this model, a strategic oriented company performance evaluation system was built including the profitability, anti-risk ability, innovation ability, development ability, sustainable ability of the company. Further depiction of how intellectual capital transforms to company value was rendered and the intellectual capital driving performance realization mechanisms are summarized: study and share mechanism; innovation and evolution mechanism; resource attraction mechanism and risk control mechanism.In the end, based on the surveys of the Zhengjiang high-tech companies, depiction analysis, correlation analysis and path analysis was adopted to analyze the intellectual capital on the performance of the sample companies using SPSS and the hypothesis together with the model and the realization mechanisms were verified. At the end of this paper, the basic conclusions were formed and suggestions for intellectual capital management for high-tech companies were given.
