This work mainly employs the classification method, based on the classification of different hotel types, functional areas, and room categories, in combination with individual cases of present national hotels, three parts of analyses and research are carried out step by step from specific to general as well as from theories to practice, including the analysis of conventional furniture styles from various domestic hotels, furniture design requirements in different functional zones, and furniture layouts and design specifications inside different room types.Several main results are concluded as follows:1. The hotel furniture is not only the key player to deliver all the functionality of a hotel, but the direct role to impact customers with the specific hotel culture expression and brand characteristics.2. Different furniture styles are chosen due to the distinguished types of hotels.3. Based on the study of the furniture in varied functional zones, several conclusions are summarized: 1) the guest chambers have the most abundant types of furniture; 2) seats and tables are equipped the most in hotels; 3) side tables and side cabinets are mainly distributed in halls and passageways, which act as decorations and pipeline guidance as well; 4) the furniture requirements in guest rooms, catering zones and back areas are the most critical and researches involving human engineering and motion study are required.4. The design principals and features are discussed referring to diverse guest room categories, and the relationship between the size and number of beds and the type or classification of guest rooms is settled. Moreover, the development of furniture design in guest chambers is specified in accordance with the tourist consumer psychology, human engineering and the new arising scientific technologies.Eventually, design of flexible beds for guest chambers and practical design of modern furniture for guest chambers and catering rooms in civic conference hotels are both implemented. 8 design trends of hotel furniture are concluded.
