Landscape ecology, as an emerging interdisciplinary, has led to a new description and explanation of the spatial structure of land utilization landscape elements, even a rethinking of planning the physical spatial structure. Meanwhile, it also provides a new approach for evaluating land use intensification, ecological stability, etc. Most of the researches put their attentions on small watershed or land use cover changes. Studies on land use in the county based on landscape ecology have some exploration significance. This paper selects Jiutai City in Jilin province as the study area, using the second survey database of land use. By combining theory and methods of landscape ecology, the sort of land use has been redistricted, the landscape pattern index has been extracted, and differences between different areas and different economic development zones have been studied. Results show as follows:1. Landscape patterns1.1 Land use characteristics of different landscapesThis article will examine the level of economic development that is divided into three regions, which are arid landscape elements as the background. The proportion of its land area is above 50%.1.2 Different levels of economic development corridor density characteristics of the regionCorridor density calculations show that the economically developed a high degree of landscape fragmentation, corridor underdeveloped areas are with the lowest density.1.3 The ecosystem features of different types of landscapePlain landscape areas have dry land and paddy fields as the background, while others are embedded into the background. Boundary lines are relatively regular. Core area of patch is large and patches show a great difference. Land systems are intensely disturbed by human activities, which leads to a weak ecosystem stability and resistance to stress and self-repair, and that makes it the weakest areas. Hilly landscape areas have dry land and woodland landscape elements as the background, and other attractions are set into its bottom. The boundary is relatively regular, with a small area of the core, and seriously broken. Materials, information and energy transfer among these patches.Mountain landscapes have woodland landscape elements as the area-based bottom, and the others are embedded into the bottom, with irregular boundary line of the patches, shape, and less regularity of shape. Due to the less disturbance of human land use, the landscape transferred to the natural state.2. Landscapes of different economic development areas2.1 Land use characteristics of different economic development regionsThis article will examine the levels of different economic development regions, which are divided into three regions. They have arid landscape elements as the background, with the proportion of its land area above 50%2.2 Corridor density characteristics of different economic development regionsCorridor density calculations show that the economically developed areas are higher than the developing areas, which are higher than the underdeveloped areas. We can conclude that the corridor density in developed areas is higher than that in developing areas and much higher than that in the underdeveloped areas.2.3 Ecosystem characteristics of different economic development regionsEconomically developed areas have dry land as the background, and other landscape elements are embedded into the bottom. Area of forest land and grassland is very small, while city and town's land area is large. Due to high density corridor, the patches are highly broken, plaque area show a great difference, plaque borders are regular and the core areas are smaller. Transform of materials, information and energy among the patches is complex. Land systems are intensely disturbed by human activities, which lead to a weak ecosystem stability and resistance to stress and self-repair, and that makes it the weakest areas.Economically developing areas have dry land as the background, and others are settled into the bottom. Average area is larger, while the patch boundary is irregular, and the core is larger. Forest land and grassland have larger area than economically developed areas, so the land system has a weak disturbance by human activities.Economically underdeveloped areas have dry landscape elements as the background, while others are embedded into the bottom. The average area is larger, with an irregular boundary line, shape, and less regularity of shape. The similarity among patches is lower, with relatively smooth patch boundaries. Disturbance due to human land use decreased the most, which leads to a most stable ecosystem.
