In the recent ten years, the lack of effective demand has become the constraints of economic development. With the financial crisis breaking out, China's the structural imbalances of economic development has prompted as a strategic height. Hunan is a major agricultural province, rural consumption is an important component of total consumption, how can we effectively promote consumer demand, resolve the issues of lacking of consumer's endogenous dynamic and so on, is of great significance for response to the financial crisis, the urban and rural co-ordinate the integration of new rural construction.In this thesis, it uses consumption of rural residents in Hunan Province as the research object, using theoretical analysis and practical method of combining analysis, based on the changes and the factors of Hunan rural residents'consumer demand to conduct research and draw their countermeasures. At first, the thesis is guided under consumption theory. Analysis is carried out about the changings of Hunan rural residents'consumption demand from consumption level and structure, then the thesis tried to use ELES models to explain it, Finally, Putting forward policy recommendations ahout the expansion of Hunan Rural residents'consumer demand.The conclusion is:as income increasing, Hunan rural residents'consumption level and structure has continously improveing; income, consumption, environment, rural supplies and consumer goods, lack of rural social security system and so on affect the expanding of consumption in rural areas in Hunan; and finally proposed the establishment of long-term mechanism of increasing peasant incomes and a sound social security system in rural areas, actively developing and promoting the products meet the consumer demand in rural areas; speeding up the urbanization process and fostering the rural consumer hot spots and so on.
