Food security is a strategic issue that many nations pay attention to, China as a large populous nation of agriculture, have attached important to food security of rural residents. Since reform and opening-up, food consumption structure of China's rural residents is optimized day by day, and nutritional condition gets great improvement. However, it has a long distance compared with the model of reasonable dietary structure. The early 21st century is an important historical period of achieving the affluent society on full scale and our food structural changes and the rapid constantly rise of nutrition level. In the face of putting much value on "farmer, agriculture and rural areas" and achieving the affluent society on full scale, researching the food security of rural residents of China has great operation significance.Based on the analysis of the connotation of food security, this paper setups indexes to analyze food security situation of our rural residents; analyzes major determinants of food security of rural residents; forecasts and analyzes rural residents' condition of food security in the next years by building time-series model; gives some policy suggestions to improve food security level of rural residents combing the existing policy. The major conclusions are as follows:Ⅰ.Food security level of our rural residents has been continually improved, but the insufficient food quantity of some food, the improper consumption construction and nutrition construction and the distinct diversity among different regions and groups of different income levels are serious;Ⅱ. Food availability and food access are major determinants of food security of rural residents. In addition to this, family scale,education,urbanization level,level food industry,consuming habit also influent food security of rural residents.Ⅲ.The time-series forecasting model results indicated that the rural residents' plant food consumption volume (except vegetables) would drop continuously, but the consumption volume of animal food would increase continuously in the next years. So the disparity would shrink progressively. Therefore, the nutritional condition of the rural residents would be improved continuously.IV.We should improve food availability; strengthen food access of our rural residents simultaneously in order to improve food security of rural residents. We should perform suitable nutrition intervention at the time of improving income level of our rural residents.
