An Analysis On The Life Cycle Of Changbai Mountain Resort

Changbai Mountain is a famous tourism brand of Jilin Province. So far, there have been many research results of Changbai Mountain Resort, most of which concentrated on eco-tourism, and some others are on tourism resources and marketing. But there are few study on the life cycle and future sustainable development of Changbai Mountain. As a typical sightseeing scenic area, Changbai Mountain faces a real problem on how to achieve sustainable development in the overall situation of leisure travel continuing to heat up and sightseeing travel declining across the country.Life cycle theory of tourism resort is a kind of theory that can describe the evolution of tourism resort. We can use it to analyze the evolving process and different developing phases of tourist destinations. Different phases have different features, so these features provide us an effective method of determining the stages of tourism destinations.Based on the tourism area life cycle theory of Butler, this paper analyses the evolving process, developing status and the amount of tourists and revenue over the years of Changbai Mountain in detail and then proposes some strategies of regulating and controlling the life cycle of Changbai Mountain Resort.The research result suggests that Changbai Mountain Resort is on the development stage with a series of characteristics of this stage.At the same time, in order to solve a series of problems of the life cycle evolution of Changbai Mountain, such as unclear destination image, serious overloading environmental capacity, lacking deep exploitation of resources, lacking accessibility, this paper puts forward to some effective means to control the tourist area life cycle. In order to achieving the sustainable development of Changbai Mountain Resort, we must take these following measures: to protect first and then exploit with protection; to shape and publicize a distinctive image; to enhance the construction of tourism infrastructure; to further develop the ice and snow tourism resources and cultural resources.
