A Study On The Tourism Development And Protection Of Ancient Villages

With a long history and rich culture, China has many ancient villages, each of which can be regarded as a fruit of human wisdom in architecture on its vast land. As the special "living fossil", ancient villages have attracted many tourists with their mystery. The ancient village has become the one of the tourist hot spot which enjoys rapid growth in recent years. With the accelerating of the tourism development of ancient villages, their cultural heritages, historical environments, and traditional customs of ancient villages have been damaged to a certain extent. Therefore, it is rather necessary to study the development and protection of the ancient villages. Zhangguying Village is one of the important ancient villages in Hunan province and even across the country, which is listed as the first batch of "historical and cultural villages" in China on October 8th,2003. Tourism in the village enjoys rapid development, but inevitably there are also some negative problems. The significance of this study is to make ancient villages, including the Zhangguying Village, more effectively protected, achieve the goal of sustainable tourism development on the basis of protection, and improve and enhance the quality of life for villagers.This paper first describes the research background, purpose and significance of the research, the research method and so on; then, it defines the concept of the ancient village, briefly discusses the theoretical knowledge related to this paper, and sums up the existing research findings. The third part studies the status of the tourism development and protection of ancient villages in China, including the tourism value analysis, project distribution, development pattern and protection status. The fourth part discusses the existing problems in the tourism development and protection of ancient villages, and puts forwards strategies for these problems. The fifth part is the part of empirical study. Based on the survey and thinking of Zhangguying Village, it analyzes its tourism value, and discusses the problems in its process of tourism development and protection and the strategies and measures to be taken currently. Finally, based on the subject study, it gives the conclusion, and puts forward the further discussion for unsolved problems.This paper attempts to provide some new perspectives and guiding suggestions for the tourism development and protection of Zhangguying village, so as to promote the sustainable healthy development of the tourism of the village, and offer a reference for the village tourism development and protection of other ancient villages.
