A Study On The Causation Of Chinese Labor Migration Based On The Core-Periphery Model

Labor migration, as a social phenomenon which consequentially produced in the process of economy development and Urbanization, is always being an important problem in research of economics and management. With the core-periphery model, this article attempt to seek for the main cause which affects labor migration in our country, in order to provide some suggestions about relative policies of the Chinese labor migration.In this thesis, the author tries to reveal all angles of the theoretical and practical problems on the causation of labor migration in our country by using the regulated analysis, demonstration analysis method and documentary analysis method. With the core-periphery model, this article attempt to seek for the main cause which affects labor migration in our country. Based on the theory analysis, the author analyzes the labor migration with demonstration research and test, and then put forward the correlative policy and advice to settle the unreasonable and out-of-order problem in the course of labor migration in our country.First, with the core-periphery model, the article uses theory analysis to research the causation of labor migration, and elicits that the area tend to become identical, in other words, whether the symmetrical distributing estate of economy movement in every area is steady or not is related nearly to the three parametersμ,σ,τ.Generally speaking, the lower payout in industrial product, the substitute elasticity in industrial products is much bigger, the deal cost in areas is more higher, therefore, the mode of area tend to identical inclines to steady. In opposition, economy movement leans to assemble in one area, and ultimately forms the space configuration of "Core-periphery" pattern.Second, there are two parts of the core research on Chinese labor migration demonstration research and test. Section one, demonstration research of causation which brings to labor migration in our country based on core-periphery model. Using related data from 2000 to 2007, the article fitting the main conclusion in theory analysis and discovers the followings:first, variables, like transport cost in areas and substitute elasticity in products, are correspondingly steady and they impact to the labor force transfer in our country diminutively; second, proportion of payout in industrial products is gradually increased, which advances the possibilities of labor to assemble in east; third, comparing with other areas, the difference of economy level and wage level in east area is much bigger, this takes much more influence to labor migration in our country. Kinds of factors lead to lots of labor assembling in east and forming "core-periphery" space configuration pattern which is in core of east area. Section two, regression test of causation that brings to labor migration in our country. Building multivariate regression model, this thesis tests the reason of labor migration in our country and elicits the followings:first, wage level and area development level are the causations of labor migration in our country; second, in our country, there is positive correlation between quantity of labor migration and wage level, higher wage level in one area is much more propitious for labor to assemble in this area.Finally, put forward the correlative policy and advice to settle the unreasonable and out-of-order problem in the course of labor migration in our country. In our country, large numbers of labor assemble in east area and town area, which form "core-periphery" space configuration pattern, in which takes the east and town area as the core part. Then how to break this model and enable the development of city and countryside in phase and labor migration reasonably? The author advances the following advices. First, expedite the build of legal system and consummate related system; second, increase the devotion of infrastructural construction in behindhand area; third, build communication network platform and establish professional employment agency; forth, increase the payout to small town; fifth, exert country predominance and advance new rural construction; Finally, behindhand area should strengthen construct themselves and attract foreign corporation to invest.
