The Study Of Differences In Regional Economic Development In Henan Province

As we all know that Henan Province is one of the most important regions in China. The importance of Henan Province in China, likes the importance of China, the world. As a major agricultural province in the landlocked area of the country, Henan Province has been one of poorest provinces in China at one time. After reform and opening up and 30 years of development, the Gross Domestic Product of Henan Province reached 1.840778 trillion Yuan as of the end of 2008, the first in the Midwest and the fifth in the whole country. The per capita Gross Domestic Product of Henan Province was 18,560 Yuan, rising to 17th place in the national inter-provincial rankings. Henan Province has undergone enormous changes.However, the economic growth levels of the provincial cities in Henan are uneven. Among the 18 provincial cities of Henan Province, the per capita Gross Domestic Product of Zhengzhou city is 4.7 times more of Zhoukou city at the end of 2008, and the gap between the two cities is now growing continuously. Where there is a difference, there will be the value of the study. Therefore, studying the differences in regional economic growth of Henan Province and then to offer useful advice on development of regional economy are of great significance.The first chapter of the thesis focuses on the great significance of the study concerning regional economy. The research related to the differences of economic development is consistent with the five unified arrangement in science-based development. Simultaneously, coordinating the regional development had to be the strategic choice for Central Rising in China of Henan Province to achieve, and the important guarantee for the achievement of social stability and harmony.The second chapter of the thesis provides a comprehensive and systematic review of relevant theory and literature, of which essentially consisting Hadow Model, Solow Model, the New Growth Theory and the viewpoint of The Institutional School on Theories on Economic Growth. Concerning of regional economic differences, the relating theories include Circular and Cumulative Causation, Unbalanced Growth Theory and Inverted "U" Theory.The chapter three demonstrated specific differences of economic development of 18 cities in Henan Province from every aspect using detailed data.Chapter four made an effective division of economic development level of 18 cities in Henan Province using modern econometric methods of science. The fifth chapter analyzed the reasons for the differences in regional economic development in Henan Province and countermeasures to narrow the differences.
