With the development of world economy and the increasement of international trade, the container terminal obtained a fast development. To satisfy the needs of customers, the owners of the container terminal do everything they can to improve throughput of container terminal.They adopt modern technology and new handling equipment constantly in daily production; also they work hard in innovating container handling technology and seeking the feasible container terminal layout. Relied on the design of the current domestic container terminals, and by using the system simulation theory and computer simulation software, this paper gives a further research on handling technology and the new techniques for container terminal layout. And it mainly focuses on the following aspects:(1)By discussing the handling technology of the container port, this paper analyses the logistics characteristics and the development of the handling technology. It discussed emphatically on the influence factors for the container terminal layout, which include the container yard, the configuration of the loading or unloading equipment, the locations of the cargo loading systems, the port handling forms, etc. With the maximum of the throughput capacity and the speed fastest of the container yards transportation as study optimal objective, combining with the system simulation theory and the theory of genetic algorithm, this paper establishes mathematical evaluation model of the container terminal layout.(2) This paper focuses on the analysis of business process of container port project that adopt Rail Mounted Gantry Crane(RMG) as loading and unloading machine.Also it discusses the influence of the arrangement type of the container yard to the wharf handling efficiency.In this paper, the author engage in simulation studies of container terminal that using RMG as loading and unloading machine by using the platform system of simulation software. Through a simulation test, we can evaluate the efficiency of the different types of RMG's loading and unloading processes under the conventional arrangement of type of the container yard. Through further researching on the relationship of handling efficiency of the loading (unload) machine with the container yard's layout forms, this paper manages to seek optimum combination of the loading and unloading process and the layout forms of container yard.(3)This paper systematically probes a new container terminal handling technology, the Double Trolley Quayside Container Crane Handling Mechanization System, and discusses its layout problem. By establishing a simulation model of the container terminal that under the vertical and horizontal yard arrangement owned the Double Trolley Quayside Container Crane loading and unloading process, and through a simulation and experiment, the author explores a reasonable layout of container yard that adopting Double Trolley Quayside Container Crane as loading (unload) machine.In this paper, the author initiated studies container port that using RMG as loading (unload) machine under the vertical and horizontal yard arrangement handling ability. And all of these can establish a technical basis to the application of the container terminals, the RMG, the Double Trolley Quayside Container Crane, and to the application of the vertical container yard arrangement.
