The optimal water discharge plan could be reached only when it was scheduled with consideration of the whole horizon concerned, which is a challenge for a hydropower plant as an independent power provider to convert these information to its bidding strategy so as to maximize its generation profits in the electricity market. A forecasted price based hydropower bidding methodology is put forward. It describes the bidding problem as a problem of maximizing the income expectation of power sale, and then a bidding model for hydropower plant is established to coordinate the water usage in various period and the relationship between water usage and bidding. On the premise of satisfying the constraint of water availability, the bidding strategy is extended, so that this model can achieve the optimal operation of hydropower plant in the formation of generation commitment price. A concrete computing case is presented to test the mode, verifying the plausibility of the methodology and leading to useful conclusion, which is of directional significance.
