Since China has the largest population in the world and the public requirement to healthcare is becoming higher and higher, the increasing demand of the healthcare providers to medical devices results in unprecedented development. After China opened the door and joined WTO, more and more world famous multinational companies move the base of manufacture to China for saving the cost of product and sales, which could provide good quality products and the professional service at lower cost. With the countrywide economic growth, more scientific research projects about medical device are carried out by the government. As a consequence, the domestic medical device manufactures have made great development in these years, while competition in the market of China is getting fiercer. The surgical medical device distributors look forward to improving the core competence and keeping a stable and long-term business relationship with the suppliers, so that they can survive in the economy crisis.Data mining is a group of techniques that find relationships that have not previously been discovered, including database management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, pattern identification and data visualization. In the statistical view, it is a user-centric, interactive process which leverages analysis technologies and computing power. It is commonly used in a wide range of profiling practices, such as marketing, surveillance, fraud detection and scientific discovery.This article, based on above context, provides a data mining solution– Marketing Sales Analysis System according to the current status of surgical medical device distributors. It starts from the research of current transaction process systems in company D. Applies data warehouse modeling, OLAP and data mining based on the business requirement collected in the blueprint. The system helps the company resolve the common issues in the business and the result is satisfied.The data warehouse is designed in a way not only to accommodate the current requirement of the company but also to provide a platform for the future development. The detailed procedure of data warehouse modeling is provided. In this case, the top-down design is used.A proposed inventory quantity in the satellite warehouse calculation model, which is base on the characteristic of the surgical medical device, is introduced. The new model avoids lots of urgent delivery and helps to save the cost of logistics.The Apriori algorithm is used in the promotion planning model. The association rules between the products are found then applied into the promotion, which is more reliable than the current one relying on the individual experience. Both the supplier and the distributor are satisfied with the result of promotion. It is the breakthrough in the service of company D.
