After the reform and opening up, China's economic structure, industrial structure, ownership structure and distribution structures have undergone a significant and profound changes, new social groups continue to emerge, the most prominent is the middle-income groups of society continue to develop and grow. The party and the government not only affirmed the middle-income groups, but also in the socialist modernization of its status and role of fully affirmed. Party Congress report was first proposed, "to expand the proportion of middle-income earners." The party's 17 major report clearly pointed out that in the next five years, to ensure "a reasonable and orderly pattern of income distribution has basically taken shape, middle-income accounted for the majority, absolute poverty basically eliminated." Therefore, expanding the proportion of middle-income groups is to promote an important condition for social stability and development, is to implement the scientific development concept, building a socialist harmonious society important way and means. This paper is divided into four parts: the first part consists of domestic and foreign scholars on the definition of middle-income groups, as well as our group of six middle-income characteristics. The second part of the use of Chinese scholars on the middle-income groups, survey data shows that middle-income groups is an economic booster, is the driving force of political change is a stabilizer of society. The third part is this innovation. I made 500 copies of the questionnaire, the six districts in Taiyuan of Shanxi Province, middle-income groups, investigation and analysis, that the middle-income groups in the economic, political, ideological great effect on social stability. The fourth part of the expansion of China's middle-income groups: the increase in income and achieve social equity, the rational allocation of educational resources, helping low-income groups, lower prices and nurture social capital reserves. At present, China accounts for the total population of middle-income groups, the proportion of smaller, distributed rendering some regional, but also in the "on top of small, bottom of the big" the "onion-type" society. This survey data support the real middle-income groups in China is to promote the development of modern society and guide social consumption, stable social situation, led the main force values of the mainstream of society. Therefore, we must expand our middle-income groups, to build "two small, the middle" and "Gan Lanxing" society. This is consistent with the goal of common prosperity, but also in line with the current proposed building a socialist harmonious society.
