As a new type of insurance, micro-insurance appears and shows rapid growth in some rural areas in developing countries. Micro-insurance is an inevitable outcome of modern financial services spreading in rural areas which has gradually become a way of anti-poverty and widely used in developing countries. At present, Chinese country social security system is imperfect, the farmers'income is low, many farmers have not obtained the basic social security and lacked the effective guard risk in our country; And the low-income level determines they are more vulnerable than city residents when they face risk, some small attack have the possibility to make them fall into poverty and lose anything, therefore it is necessary to explore a risk transfer mechanism to enable them to get rid of this situation.In recent years, affected by many developing countries promoting micro-insurance, our country has also started to promote micro-insurance. Micro-insurance is in accordance with accepted principles of insurance operations, in order to provide low-income groups with insurance. Its products include the protection of life insurance, health insurance, accident insurance, property insurance, as well as micro-finance. Its premium is few, the insured value is low, aiming at the low-income's specific risk, the provision is easy to understand. At present, we have promote kinds of rural micro-insurance including micro-life insurance,new medical insurance,pension insurance for landless farmers,accident insurance for migrant workers and so on, it has achieved certain effects. Micro-insurance is still at the exploration stage in our country, it still exists some problems, such as the coverage is not wide enough,the supply efficiency is not high,the service can not keep up,lack of effectively policy supporting and so on. These negative factors have affected the healthy development of micro-insurance. In order to solve these problems effectively, the author tries to make the development of Chinese rural micro-insurance as the main line, focusing on analyzing the issues of the rural micro-insurance's supply and demand, then basing on learning from international experience and carrying out appropriate policy recommendations.The paper is composed of six parts:the first chapter is introduction, this part introduces the research purpose,research significance,the research trends of domestic and international and the possibility of innovation and shortage.The second chapter is the basic contents of the rural micro-insurance. This part is the starting point of the essay. The definition of micro-insurance,characteristics and the major micro-insurance products are introduced in this part.The third chapter analyzes the background of Chinese rural micro-insurance and the feasibility of starting the rural micro-insurance, so that the readers can have a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese rural micro-insurance.The fourth chapter analyzes the demand and supply of Chinese rural micro-insurance. This section introduces the demand and the supply of the micro-insurance separately. It analyzes the main factors that affect the demand of the micro-insurance and the risk the farmers face; then introducing the current micro-insurance products on the market; at last, the essay analyzes the problems of developing Chinese rural micro-insurance from the perspective of supply and demand balance.The fifth chapter is the present status of foreign countries'micro-insurance and the enlightenments to our country. Firstly, this section introduces the development status of the international micro-insurance; secondly, introducing the cases of foreign countries'micro-insurance, then summarizing the experiences from foreign countries, at last, we can obtain some experience from foreign countries'micro-insurance development.The sixth chapter is some policy recommendations for Chinese rural micro-insurance development. It is the ultimate conclusion from this essay. This essay proposes policy suggestions from the following aspects:operating models,selling channels,service system,market classification,risk controlling,legal and policy supporting and so on.
