Traffic plays an important role in today's travel industry. The development of tourism depends largely on the improvement of the transportation technology.The quality of the public transportation services directly affects the tourists when they choose the traveling destinations. The Industrial Revolution witnessed the emergence of new vehicles and transportation facilities, which brought the whole world with convenience and comfort. While in the 20th century, numerous means of transportation such as magnetic suspension train, hovercraft, and aerospace craft sprang out, enabling the tourists to travel from one place to another in a faster, safer and more fascinating way.At the same time, along with the increasing number of tourists all over the world, the travel industry gets much more exciting and challenging. In order to create and maintain satisfied and profitable customers, and fulfill their diverse needs in the long term, more and more traveling vehicles and facilities have been carefully designed and developed into new series of tourist products with strong elements of culture and scientific values.This essay, basing on the former researches on the relationship between tourism and traffic, explores the ways of designing and promoting new tourist products with four kinds of traffic resources (vehicles, streets and paths, bridges, and stations). Chengdu city is selected by the author as its traffic resources are abundant and develops rapidly in recent years. Combined with theoretical investigations and empirical studies, the essay works out a variety of tourist products around sightseeing, academic studies, cultural explorations, ecological tours by means of transportation. This is an effort to provide visitors with an wider variety of qualified products, and tour operators with helpful instructions.
