Analysis Of National Product Structure With Bipartite Network

Under the background of economic globalization, the research on national economy will be propitious to identify economic status and their environment, then effective economic reformation will be carry out and achieve the national wealth maximization.The dissertation first construct the bipartite graph that show the relation between country and advanced product based on export trade data. The bipartite graph defined the economic structure of the world, countries and products, then making empirical research from three aspects.1) the similarity of the national economy,2) the complexity of the national economy,3) the national economic competency model. First, the similarity of the national economy that is defined as conditioned probability of common advanced product among countries, show that the more common advanced products among countries are, the similarity is stronger. National economic similarity network is formed by the method of constructing a maximum spanning tree superimposed similarity larger threshold's edge. With deviations based on the similarity comparison, the network model can objectively reflect the economic structure of the similarities and differences among countries, then making empirical analysis based on Asian countries as an example. Second, based on the point of view that the complexity of national economy depends on its advanced products'quantity and quality, the complexity of the world economy was well-ordered ranks by application of reflective method and put forward the concept of partially ordered categories, then the complexity of the national economy is constructed as a partial order network. The convergence of reflection method, in particular, the analysis of convergence to maintain "order," have some novelty; Third, through the combination of empirical data and theoretical models, explore the reason producing the country's economic similarity and complexity, and research the composition of factor endowments. Based on the "lego" model of the national economic structure, establish constructive arithmetic of the product-ability and the state-ability relations. This arithmetic specifically assume national capacities and product need capabilities. Based on the theoretical results, predict the national economic potential. Preliminary studies have shown that this method has obvious prospect for theory and method.
