Ocean covers a vast area of the Earth with rich energy resources and mineral resources. Recent years, the research on marine environment has been paid more attention.The Ocean's observation is foundation of the understanding of the oceans, marine research, development and utilization of oceans. The means of marine monitoring include auto-monitoring station,buoy system,seabed-based measuring system,HF ground wave radar controlling system on sea surface environment,current technology of acoustic correlation and so on.Wave is the most important and most complex one among all elements of the ocean observations. There are many kinds of observation equipment, and different instruments have different principle and observation scopes of application. Compared to other wave observation equipments, wave direction buoys have many irreplaceable advantages:duration for use, long time unmanned observation and so on. So it is used widely.In this paper, it introduces the system structure of SZF wave direction buoy,data acquisition section,data processing section and wireless transmission system.SZF buoy system includes buoy body,land station receiver and upper monitor. The system structure section tells mainly about hardware component and data measuring principle,function,indicator and technology parameter. Data acquisition section dwells on the basic principle of data acquisition:choosing of SCM and A/D convertor,work principle of sensors and U plate data reading. In this system, sensors includes high-tilt sensor integration and vector sensor. In data processing section,it presents the principle and means of alert data statistical with software realizing method using COM technology,STL,mixing program of Matlab and VC++.The last section focus on usual wireless data transmission method:HF data transmission,data transmission based GSM short message and IP. These three working ways apply in different environment for different characteristic. The third method is introduced detailedly.SZF wave direction buoy has got the national 863 project group's assessment. Laboratory experiments and field experiments show SZF wave buoy data acquisition,processing and transmission system arrives the targets of the design. Data processing is real and reliable. Data reception is accurately.
