Accompanying with the constant discovery of new oil fields, the exploration objects they face are becoming more and more complex, and morphology and distribution of geological faults play the key role in oil and gas fields' formation. 3D coherence technique is a new technology in 3D seismic signal processing and analysis, which has developed rapidly in recent years. And it's an efficient method to extract and identify faults from 3D seismic data volume using the principle of fault detection. Compared with the conventional interpretation, it's more beneficial for the identification and edge detection of small faults.Compared with the C1, C2 coherency algorithm, the C3 coherency algorithm has a higher horizontal resolution and vertical resolution in coherence technique algorithms, 3D coherence technology is an efficient method to find and recognize geological freak wave from 3D seismic data among all techniques. The C2 coherency algorithm has good stability, suitable for low signal noise ratio data, but lateral resolution is low. The C1 coherency algorithm is fast, and easy to implement, so it's suitable for high signal noise ratio information. This paper will make research on 3D coherency technique mainly from the following aspects:1. This paper introduces the basic principles of 3D coherency technique, and deeply studies several primary methods of 3D coherency technique in fault identification. Using the three generations of coherency algorithm, 3D coherency cube is achieved from the actual seismic data, and the effect of fault detection in coherence cube slices is analyzed.2. Based on the deep analysis on C1, C2, and C3 coherency algorithm, this paper improves the statistic used in C1 coherency algorithm and proposes root-mean-square statistic with experiment.3. Because of big calculated amount in the calculation of the coherency cube, and its long time, this paper improves the traditional coherency algorithm, which greatly enhances the computing speed.4. This paper deeply studies the coherency parameters of 3D coherency technique, and selects appropriate parameters for better results.
