A Study Of Theory And Technology Of Planar Animated Map

Animated map has strong expressive ability as a new electronic map, it can express dynamic information preferably while static can not. But there are four shortcomings in the process of internal researching: The first is that the researching on map spatial cognize theory, map visual perception theory and map aesthetics theory in animated map is inadequate; The second is that the researching on the dynamic visual variables in planar animated map is inadequate; The third is that the researching on the acoustical variables in animated map is inadequate; And the fourth, the researching on expressive methods in lanar animated map is inadequate.In allusion to above four questions, this paper consummated the basic theory of animates map firstly, including definition, characteristics, expressive content and so on. Then this paper brought forward the applied rules of map spatial cognize theory, map visual perception theory and map aesthetics theory in the process of animated map design. And it researched the application of map visual perception theory emphatically, which laid the foundation for the researching on visual variables.According to perceptual theory, this paper brought forward the definition of perceptual variables, and researched visual variables and acoustical variables in planar animated map thoroughly. Combining with testing, this paper provided the applied extension and use standard of visual variables, and discussed the applied rules of acoustical variables elementarily. Based on those, this paper summarized the applied rules of the perceptual properties of visual variables and acoustical variables with analyzing examples.Based on the above theory, this paper brought forward the referrence, content and principle in the process of designing planar animated map, analysed and summarized the expressive methods and offered cartographer theoretic guidance.This paper developed the visual perception testing system of planar animated map in order to use the result of the test to evaluate the visual perception of animated map. By analyzing of the result of visual perception test, we can ameliorate the design of dynamic symbols and the produce of planar animated map.
