The main study includes: surface modification mechanism and token of the inorganic filler talc, CaCO3 and wollastonite; effect of fillers on properties of filled HDPE composite and co-composite.The surface modification of talc etc is treated .The effect of modification is evaluated by a serious of methods, including contact angle, activation rate and absorptioon of DOP. For the modified fillers, contact angles to distilled water are increased markedly, absorption of DOP are dereased, and activation rates are increased with increased coupling agent content. The results show that the modification change the polarity of the surface of fillers, the surface change from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. In order to discuss modification mechanism, we study the unmodified, modified fillers and coupling agnet by IR. The spectrograms of modified fillers distilled by acetone still show the character apices of coupling agents at 2850cm-1and 2920cm-1, which indicates the chemical bond effect between coupling agents and fillers surface. Modified fillers can be more contributing, decrease of absorption of DOP can reduce the immobility of plasticizing agent, so that decrease the cost. The modified poeder of better effect is respectively added as fillers to blend HDPE matrix, then manufacture HDPE composite by melt extrude. Study the mechanical properties, thermal properties and anti- aging properties, moreover SEM. The results show that : firatly ,talc, CaCO3 and wollastonite are activated by the coupling agent to improve the matrix resin with the compatibility of HDPE, and compared with the untreated inorganic powders, the materials of composite are increased. Secondly , on the HDPE/talc composite the tensile strength is increased with the increase of the content of talc , but impact strength is sharply decreased, and nothing to do with content of talc. Thirdly, on the HDPE/ wollastonite composite the notched impact strenth is increased with the increase of content of wollastonite ,while the tensile strength is decreased with the increase of its content. Moreover, on the HDPE/CaCO3 composite the notched impact strenth is significantly increased with content of CaCO3, while the tensile strength is decrased almost linearly with the increase of the content of CaCO3.A new method of strengthening and toughening HDPE is used in the paper.Three typical inorganic particles, talc, wollastonite and CaCO3 wre used as fillers to HDPE matrix, and the co-composite effects of inorganic particles were investigated. The results indicated that the co-composite method had advantages in several aspects: in virtue of the stengtheing effect of active particles, the sharply decreasing tendency of material toughness induced by the weak interface along inactive particles and the matrix could be effectively amended; the strength and toughness of the co-composite materials could be simultaneously controlled at a higher level by combining the characteristics of two different inorganic particles.
