With the refining of a large number of high sulfur crude oil and Claus sulfur recovery process becomes mature,sulfur production increased significantly,which attracted more and more attention in the fields of research and application of the sulfur modified asphalt.Due to the environmental pollution which caused by sulfur modified asphalt pavement,its application was limited.On the other hand,emulsified asphalt had the advantages of energy saving,environment friendly,economy and convenient construction.Therefore,it was inperative to develop a new sulfur modified emulsified asphalt.In this paper,the relationship between the performance of sulfur modified asphalt and the reaction temperature,the dosage of sulfur was studied.Combined with infrared spectroscopy(IR)and gel permeation chromatography(GPC)analysis methods,the mechanism of sulfur modified asphalt was discussed,which laid the foundation for the preparation of sulfur modified emulsified asphalt.The emulsified asphalt preparation process and parameters were studied.Then the preparation process of sulfur modified emulsified asphalt was determined.Under the condition,a kind of sulftur modified emulsified asphalt was prepared successfully when using appropriate emulsion formula.Through the measurement of penetration,softening point,ductility,storage stability and viscosity,the effects of different dosage of emulsifier and stabilizer,sulfur modification methods and its dosage on the performance and storage stability of emulsion were investigated.The results showed that when sulfur modified asphalt at temperature 130 ?,sulfur 10%,emulsifier B 3%,thickening agent 0.45%,KC1 1.5%,the modified emulsified asphalt had good storage stability.In this paper,SBR latex modified emulsified asphalt was prepared.The effect of SBR latex on the properties of asphalt was studied by evaporation residue test and the modification mechanism of SBR latex was analyzed.The possibility of sulfur react with SBR latex as crosslinking agent and its compound modification mechanism were analyzed in theory.Then SBR latex was added into sulfur modified asphalt emulsion system.The performance of the composite modified asphalt emulsion and pure SBR latex emulsified asphalt and sulfur modified asphalt emulsion were compared to verify the final effect of composite modification.
