Chengmenshan copper mine is a large compound deposit that mainly contains copper and sulphur, symbioses molybdenum, zinc and iron and accompanies many valuable elements. Currently a new technological processes of "quick prior, copper-sulphur mixed flotation, middings selectively regrind and copper-sulphur separation" is adopted. In production, ammonium dibutyl dithiophosphate and sodium butyl xanthates were still used as collector, and lime was usd as depressant of pyrite. Because of some shortages of the on-the-spot reagent technology and the highalkalinity technology, copper- sulphur separation is very difficult sometimes. New flotation reagent is needed to achieve mineral separation and efficient recover.Through single minerals study, mineral flotation behavior of pyrite and chalcopyrite was basically found out. In the acidic condition, the flotability of pyrite is better, when the pulp pH value is larger than 10, the flotability of pyrite becomes worse; but the flotability of chalcopyrite is better in the pH values ranging from 6 to 12. Lime easily restraints the pyrite, especially when the pulp pH value is adjusted to more than 10.0, the hydrophilicity of the pyrite surface will markedly enhances, so its recovery will decline quickly. Sodium hypochlorite is a kind of efficient inhibitor of pyrite, the pyrite will be inhibited in the pulp joined a handful of sodium hypochlorite, but chalcopyrite is not obviously inhibited. Therefor sodium hypochlorite can be used as inhibitor of copper-sulphur separation. The quick copper collector-PAC is prior to ammonium dibutyl dithiophosphate, which close to ester-105.Commercial test indicated that copper-sulfur separation is achieved efficiently by using the new efficient reagent DT-4# whose dominant sector is sodium hypochlorite as inhibitor and a handful of lime as regulator, and sodium hypochlorite substitutes for a large number of lime, which is more beneficial to recover accompanying elements. Results of commercial test showed that the grade of copper concentration reached to 27.58%, and its recovery reached to 82.01%, comparing to index of 2008, grade and recovery of copper respectively incresed by 1.23%,0.32%. Accompanying gold and silver grade were 0.896g/t,140.11g/t respectively.Surface absorption quantity research shows that sodium hypochlorite can reduce xanthate adsorption quantity on the pyrite surface, but basically don't affect xanthate adsorption quantity on the chalcopyrite surface, in low alkalinity condition, the competitive adsorption occurs on the pyrite surface between ClO- with xanthate anion, and the former prior adsorbs on pyrite surface, and the oxidation reaction occurs on the surface, generating a large number of hydrophilic Fe(OH)3, Ca2+ and CO32-synthesizes and stably absorbs on the pyrite surface. The effect of Fe(OH)3 and CaCO3 on the surface enhances the hydrophilicity of pyrite surface, but the above reactions are difficult to take place on the chalcopyrite surface.
