With the continuous development of microscopic mechanical technology, ultra-precision and high-precision micro-EDM technology has been wildly used in the field of micro-maching for its non-contact and easy realization three-dimensional structure processing. Micro-EDM is an important application areas as EDM machining, in large degree it represents the level of research and development in EDM. In the complex influence factors and strong randomness of micro-EDM machining, a mature and reliable processing system, accurate discharge status detection technology and a reasonable process control strategy are the key technologies to get a good stable discharge status, also the key technologies to achieve high efficiency, high stability and high precision machining. So study of these technologies is of important theoretical significance and application value.Firstly, the present development situation of micro-EDM machining is described, the method of EDM micro-feeding device, the discharge status detection and piezoelectric ceramic micro-feed drive control is analyzed and summarized in this paper.Secondly, the discharge status detection common methods of micro-EDM and their advantages and disadvantages is summarized, whereby introduction of the information fusion technology, a discharge state detection module is designed based on fuzzy neural network, and conduct a confirmatory simulation experiment, getting fairly good results.Then, according to the characteristics of micro-EDM, the design requirements of servo control system are proposed, and the drive power to the piezoelectric ceramic is designed in accordance with the design requirements, piezoelectric ceramic micro-feeding system mathematical model is built, and also a self-tuning fuzzy PID controller is designed.Finally, the micro-feeding system control algorithms is analysed and researched, and based on the discharge detection modules and control algorithms of the previous chapters, PID and fuzzy self-tuning PID simulation model of piezoelectric ceramic micro-feed system has been built in simulink environment of matlab ,and also the simulation results has been analyzed and summarized, laying a solid foundation for the future practical application of micro-EDM machining.
