Bis(imino)pyridine metal complexes have attracted interest in recent years due to their ability in both Luminescence and Catalytic performance. The present paper synthesizes two bis(imino)pyridine RE complexes and five Manganese complexes bearing bis(imino)pyridine ligands, the structure of these complexes were determined, and the luminescence properties of the RE complexes were Researched.By using 2,6-Diacetylpyridine with six different substituted Anilines, 2,6-bis[1-(phenylimino)ethyl]pyridine(L1), 2,6-bis[1-(2-methylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine(L2), 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-dimethylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine(L3), 2,6-Bis[1-(2,4,6-trimethylphen-ylimino)ethyl]pyridine(L4), 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-diethylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine(L5), 2,6-Bis[1-(2,6-diisopropylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine(L6) Were synthesized. The structure of six ligands have been characterized by Elemental analyses, IR spectra etc. Sm(L6)Cl3(Sm6) and Eu(L6)Cl3(Eu6) were prepared by reaction of L6 with a stoichiometric amount of the corresponding MCl3 in acetonitrile. All complexes have been characterized by Elemental analyses, IR spectra etc. The luminescence properties of two complexes were studied, corresponds to Characteristical transition of Eu3+ ions and Sm3+ ions, respectively.Five manganese complexes of these ligands were prepared by reaction of MnCl2 with a stoichiometric amount of the corresponding 2,6-bis(imino)pyridine ligand in acetonitrile. All manganese complexes have been characterized by Elemental analyses, IR spectra etc. All manganese complexes were obtained as crystals except Mn4, the crystal structures were determined by X-ray singl-crystal diffraction. Four complexes can be best described as distorted trigonal-bipyramidal with metal manganese as the central.
