Metal detector is one kind of security detection equipment which automatically detect metalforeign matter that mixed in transportation material. It has been widely used in industrial, food,security, livelihood and other fields. It can take center position in the field of product processing andsecurity checks.The crush work of metal mine is the key process in ore-dressing plant, the stability of crushequipment directly affects whole plant rate index level. It depends on the performance of itself and theinfluence degree of metal material mixing in crushing material. After investing, some ore-pressingplants stop to original metal detector, even don’t install the metal detector. The main reason for thisphenomenon is the metal detector’s sensitivity and stability can’t meet with the productionrequirement. Because of the omission and false positives, it leads to frequently stop running oftransportation system and the metal foreign material mixing in transportation material enter into crushequipment, broke the equipment, effect he economic effective of ore-pressing plants. In order toenable the normal operation of crushing equipment, it is very urgent to design a new full digitalbeneficiation metal detector to effectively detect the metal foreign matter mixed in transportationmaterial.Due to electromagnetic interference, noise interference and temperature drift influence, thetraditional metal detector exists interference and not-high detection precision. Based on analyzingtraditional metal detector’s principle and character, it presents a new full digital beneficiation metaldetector, uses MSP430microcontroller as the core control chip, adopts transmitting and receivingcoils as eddy current sensor, and senses the change of electrical signal amplitude and phase whichcaused by changing magnetic field. The effective signal can be extracted from noise by applying thecharacteristics of correlation function. And the frequency spectrum of collected signals is alsoanalyzed by fast Fourier transform algorithm. After getting signal amplitude and phase frequencycharacteristics, the metal detector can determine whether a metallic foreign body through. Finally thesystem realizes the coordination of metal detector’s sensitivity and stability. Through the experiments,it was proved that the fast correlation algorithm can improve the stability and sensitivity of system. Atthe same time, some experimental results prove the initially verify feasibility of system.
