In the iron and steel industry, strip rolling has been an important part of the metallurgical industry. Thickness is the most direct and the most stringent indicator of the strip quality. In order to ensure to get accurate measurement parameters of thickness control system, only to measure the thickness precisely. This undoubtedly lays an important position of the gauge in the thickness control system. The main functions of thickness gauge in the production process of steel strip are on-line measurement and monitoring to achieve high accuracy requirement of rolling production.Because of its high accuracy and high stability, ray thickness gauge is widely used in the rolling filed of sheet steel. And X-ray thickness gauge has the advantages of high accuracy, high SNR and more safer than the isotope thickness gauge, so occupied the market of the thickness gauge gradually.The X-ray thickness gauge studied in this topic is mainly used in small and medium sized of cold rolling filed. Firstly design the measurement program of X-ray thickness gauge according to performance indexes of requirements of rolling scene. And the development of X-ray thickness gauge is divided into three parts:mechanical structure design, electrical design and application software development.1, mechanical structure design: design of mechanical structure mainly includes the C type frame structure design, collimator design and shutter design. This paper mainly studies the C type frame structure design.2, electrical design: this part mainly includes the devices selection and signal processing board design. The selection of the devices includes the performance test of X-ray source, the selection of acquisition board and the selection of the ray detector.3, application software development: this application software not only achieves the functions of calibration, setting, measurement display and so on, but also can achieve manual correction function combined with the hardware circuit. By analyzing the influences of measurement accuracy of X-ray thickness gauge, briefly introduce the method of improving the accuracy of measurement, such as alloy compensation, temperature compensation, the height compensation of through position and angle compensation. And an on-line correction method is proposed. This method can improve the real-time correction of X-ray intensity, and this method can not only improve the accuracy of X-ray thickness gauge, but also cannot affect the speed of rolling.This system has accomplished the design and manufacture of the prototype. And in the laboratory, according to the different thickness rang, this system realized different measuring accuracy, and the response time is up to 20ms. These performance indexes can fully meet the requirements of small and medium thickness in cold rolling field.
