Throughout the history of China metal craft, it achieved the brilliant developments as known to everyone. Granulation process, as a unique species of Chinese traditional craft, appeared with the initial use of gold and silver production emergence and development. The use of this craft in each stage has the distinctive characteristic of every age.In this study, I’ll try to solve several key problems of the granulation process by deep researches and analysis focus on ancient Chinese granulation process: how to make the metal balls with same size and how to make granulation in welding process avoiding from melting. In this paper, the similarities and differences between granulation decoration and the production of the ancient and modern ones would be analyzed as a case study of modern granulation works on cartier watches; according to the previous researches and results, combined with themodern jewelry design of the status quo and production demand, the author designed four sets of works, trying to use modern jewelry processing technology with traditional techniques, to investigate the modern jewelry design development and application in the case of metal particle technology.Gold and silver production craft has been an important part of the research scholars. The development and maturity of a technology era is an important manifestation of social and economic development, and even the mature sign of processing technology and material basis. The development and production technology mature of gold smelting technique development is the comprehensive embodiment of social wealth and national strength and prosperity, and even the important symbol of ancient Chinese gold and silver wares and the prosperity. The key of this study is how to develop traditional granulation process by modern science and technology, and how to draw lessons from the traditional granulation process and show its charm in the eyes of the world in an accurate and modern aesthetic mode. I’d like to contribute to development of the opportunity of industry of modern jewelry design.
