Forging operation is an important auxiliary equipment to realize the job of forging joint press, and to play a key role in achieving improving the quality of forgings and forging automation.The performance of the forging operation should meet the entire forging unit fast, high precision and high automation requirements.The research status and development trend of the forging operation is introduced in this paper, and the 5T forging operation is taken as the research object. The process and the technical performance of the forging operation is detailing required. A electrical hydraulic proportional control system is designed based with PLC control and the advanced control technology is taken into the forging manipulator control system. And the rotating mechanism and carts running gear of the forging operation are respectively analyzed, then the mathematical model is set up.Aiming at the non-linear characteristics of the Forging manipulator control system as well as the big lag phenomenon, then the single neuron adaptive PID control algorithm is applied to the forging manipulator control system in this article. The simulation model of the forging operation control system respectively in the single neuron adaptive PID algorithm and the traditional PID algorithm is established by using the MATLAB/Simulink, The simulation results show that the traditional PID control had a significant overshoot and large oscillation amplitude. In other side, The single neuron adaptive PID control avoid the large overshoot produced by traditional PID control, and improve the response speed of the system.
