Fixture Layout Optimization Based On Genetic Algorithmand Finite Element Method

Fixture is a widely used process equipment. Its main function is to keep the workpiece in the right position and clamped in order to ensure the reliability of machining. Fixture plays a very important role in the manufacture of the workpiece. Compared with traditional marking method, fixture can greatly improve the production efficiency and reduce the production costs.Computer aided fixture design is becoming a new research field in the area of computer aided design in recent years. Fixture layout optimization is a part of fixture performance evaluation in computer aided fixture design. The main research content of this paper is fixture layout optimization problem. Fixture layout optimization is a layout optimization problem in order to minimize the workpiece deformation in the machining process. In this paper, the optimization goal is the maximum deformation of the workpiece in the machining process. The design variables are the positions of locators and clampers. Genetic algorithm is used to optimize while finite element method is used to calculate the objective function. In the fixture layout optimization, two kinds of fixture layout optimization methods are used, and six two-dimensional workpiece model examples are calculated in this paper.In this paper, it can be seen that the genetic algorithm is an effective optimization method through the examples, and the combination of genetic algorithm and finite element method is needed to solve the fixture layout optimization problem. The results also show that the genetic algorithm combined with finite element method is an effective method to solve the problem.
