Artemisia selengensis is an artificial vegetable with unique odor and rich nutrition, because of which it gains great popularity among the consumers and the plantation areas have been expanding in recent years. In our country has formed mainly in central China, northeast, north China is complementary of large-scale of Artemisia selengensis planting industry. Caidian area of wuhan city, hubei province, in particular, the entire district Artemisia selengensis plant has basically formed scale, regional structure, Artemisia selengensis planting has become one of the important ways to caidian district of farmers’ income.Currently the reaping and processing of Artemisia selengensis depends completely on manual labor, which results in the low efficiency, high labor cost and heavy labor intensity. So the mechanization of reaping and processing Artemisia selengensis is one major barrier to the development of it. The leave removing is the most important procedure before they go into the market. Due to the varied stalks and stems(ripe Artemisia selengensis is half woody, like thin paper, whose length is 300-500 mm and whose diameter is 4-6mm, and its leaves are 25-50 mm long and 8-15 mm wide), the mechanization is difficult to achieve and at present, there are no such machines in existing. The ways of leaves-removing of other like-plants are quite different, which can not be applied to Artemisia selengensis. The main research contents of this leaves-removing machine is as follows:(1) Starting tests on Artemisia selengensis, analysis of the mechanical and physical properties.(2) The whole structure and the working principles of the key parts were introduced and the relevant designing parameters were analyzed and confirmed. Conveying device and leave-separating device of this machine was designed. The working procedure of cams and other key parts were analyzed and calculated.(3) The design on three main parts of the machine: deviding device, conveying device and stopping device has been launched, grain mechanism with the connecting rod length of hinge four-bar linkage are designed, analysis has been carried on the conveyer belt type selection and the design of longth, bandwidth have been done, automatic control system has been designed to the stopping device, institution design were done and the CAM mechanism has been designed to calculate the exact time.(4) In order to improve the efficiency and economic values, more sets of this kind of leave-removing machines are needed. And each machine is installed with many a clamping part to create an assembly line with many a processing position. According to the kinematic models which was founded by the transporting and leaves-removing procession, the relation between its speed and position were obtained. Simulation and parameter optimization of the machining procession have been done by using Flexsim software. Dual factors response surface of machining efficiency and missing rate with transmission speed and leaves-removing speed were drawn.(5) A prototype machine was made and optimized after tests and the best speed combination was obtained after the experiments and analysis of different parameters. In the actual working of the machine, the leave-removing procedure agrees with the theorectial analysis and the whole conveying is stable.
